Entex’s fixed biomass systems allow upgrading existing
carbonaceous systems without additional tank volumes by
doubling the biomass inventory on the media. Nitrification
and denitrification are enabled and enhanced.

Biological nutrient removal

ENTEX’s IFAS and SFF systems provide tremendous flexibility in designing systems capable of meeting increasingly stringent effluent standards, including nitrogen removal. Additionally, the substantial space saved by using Entex’s systems can provide the critical additional space needed to support biological phosphorus removal. Both our fixed media BioWeb systems and moving media BioPortz systems provide exceptional performance at substantially lower costs than conventional solutions. When combined into our IMFAS hybrid membrane systems, highly effective total nitrogen removal can be incorporated using exceptionally cost effective systems.

Entex’s systems provide film thicknesses that support simultaneous nitrification and denitrification. Under the aerobic layer of biomass is an anoxic layer that provides additional denitrification in the aerobic zone. This results in the recovery of alkalinity lost in the nitrification zone, and, by metabolizing organics anoxically, saves on aeration requirements.
