In 2007, the Town of Fincastle built a new wastewater treatment plant that included headwork screens, dual EQ basins, pre and post anoxic basins for nutrient removal, a BioWheel biological treatment system, clarifiers, an Entex FlowTex disc filter and UV. Prior to construction of the WWTP, wastewater disposal had been achieved through the use of a treatment lagoon which provided insufficient treatment to meet tighter discharge limits and was exhibiting some leaking. The new plant is designed at 125,000 gallons per day and receives all flow from the towns residential and commercial connections and a newly construction corrections facility. The current discharge permit limits effluent total suspended solids to 30 mg/L. Entex provided a tertiary cloth disc filter; model D54x2, for installation in a concrete basin.
