Greensboro’s 16 MGD North Buffalo Plant added BioWeb in 1997 to achieve winter nitrification. The additional BioWeb brought the plant into winter ammonia limit compliance.
No maintenance has been required since installation.
Results:
Stayed well below permit: NH3-N CBOD
Summer: Apr 1 - Oct 31 4 ppm 8 ppm
Winter: Nov 1 – Mar 31 8 ppm 16 ppm
Significantly lower Sludge Volume Index (SVIs).
