BioWeb is a patented fabric developed in 1996 designed to maximize biomass growth comprised of high strength polyester filaments. ENTEX leverages BioWeb as one of the core technologies in the Webitat module. The BioWeb material is designed to foster the growth of a healthy and thinly-distributed biofilm, one of the most important aspects of an effective Integrated Fixed-Film Activated Sludge (IFAS) system or Submerged Fixed Film system. The filaments of the BioWeb form loops that stand out from the fabric, providing ample growth sites for attached biomass. The material, geometry and design mean excellent substrate distribution and oxygen diffusion.
In addition to it’s biological effectiveness, the knitted matrix of BioWeb is exceptionally strong and durable; the interlocking “honeycomb” design has a break strength well in excess of 1000 pounds per square foot and is manufactured with a proprietary knitting process that prevents fraying and unraveling (even if cut). The fabric is factory-installed on steel frames for placement in the basin.
